I have changed the ending so that it does not show the girls being married and instead shows them dancing (this is an effect on Sony Vegas which I have wanted to try out for a long time). I des cussed with the tutor about how I could show the main aspects if the film such as arranged marriages; I came up with having the girls in the middle of the screen and hands coming in and making them stand in a certain way, this symbolises that their family is forcing them to do what the family wants. However the girls break out of this by pushing the hands away and then they are able to forge their own path, this is shown by them dancing.

Inventive Titles Day 3
For the Crit I discussed my storyboard for Yaadein and decided to change quite a lot of it.
Inventive Titles Day 2
Today I created the storyboards for both of the films that I will be shooting. The first is 'Don't be Afraid of the Dark' a thriller. I will be using live action as I feel that I will not be able to make two well made animations in the time given. Also I would like to test my skills as a film maker.
I have planned out the basics of what I will do for my animation, some scenes will change as I animate and I think that I will add some more I between the girls dancing and the end.
Inventive Titles Day 1
For this project we have to recreate title sequences, I have chosen to look at the Bollywood and Thriller genres.
I have done research today about practitioners in the industry, I looked at Saul Bass, who created the opening to many Alfred Hitchcock films as well as famous movies such as 'The Man with the Golden Arm'. I also looked at Kyle Cooper who made the intro to 'Se7en' as well as 'Iron Man' and 'Spider-man' I was particular interested in his opening title for 'Dreamcat her' where each scene fades into each other which helps with the tension building before the film starts. This is what I aim to achieve in my title sequence.
Title card breif
Today we were given the brief for a 1 day project. We were to create three title cards for the following films: 'Finger of Guilt' (Thriller), 'It Came From Outer Space '(Science Fiction) and 'The Shop Around the Corner' (Screw ball Comedy). We were not allowed to use computers, only resources that we could find out of books etc. I mainly used drawings and sketches that I made myself; except for the faces for 'Finger of Guilt' which I traced from today's Metro; and for 'It Came from Outer Space' I used a hand.
I then wanted to look at what if I went down the other route. This time I thought what the words actually mean to us singularly, not as what they mean when they are all put together. This gave me the idea of a computer, (space, as in the space bar). I experimented with a few different ways of writing the title, in the end I cane up with the idea of writing the title in computer code in the background and having a computer in the fore ground. On the computer screen it says: 'IT-CAME-FROM-OUTER-' there is a hand touching the space bar which I hope will trigger the missing word 'space' in the viewers mind. I have put the title in the background if the viewer could not guess it from the picture. I have also blacked out all of the keys on the computer apart from the ones that were used in the title.
Finger of Guilt
This was the film that I had the most ideas for; I wanted to emphasise the word 'guilt' so that it would stand out to the audience. I played around with the idea of writing it across his hands but I felt that this did not portray the image that I wanted. I decided to focus on the typography of the other words for a bit in a hope that an idea would come to me. I decided to write 'finger' in a really long and spidery font to resemble fingers. For the 'of' I split up the 'f' so that it looked like a cross, which I feel ties in to the idea of guilt (confessing you sins).
In the end I wrote 'guilt' across the man's face which I got from when people say 'is it written on my face'. I have tried to shape the font so that it looks like it is actually written on his face. If I was to redo this poster I think I would erase the other people out of the background as I feel that I have looked at this task more as if I was making a poster for the film and not a title sequence.
It Came From Outer Space
The idea of this project was to realise that you do not need to have any know leged about a certain subject, or have to use any technology to be able to make something about it. These films were specifically chosen so that none of us would have seen them. We were told to use our own ideas to try and create our work.
For 'It Came From Outer Space' I was not sure what angle to approach from; I could go down the obvious route of showing an alien/ spaceship or something equally space themed. I did test out a few ideas for the alien theme, I tried to create some different type fonts that had a 'space-y' aspect to them. The letters were formed very differently, some I wrote as block capitals, some slender and pointy and some as lower case slightly disjointed letters that have them a look like they had just been worked out of a stencil.
If I were to do this project again I think that I would look at computer code so that my text in the background looks more authentic.
The Shop Around the Corner
This is the film that I had no idea how to go about it. I felt that since my last two posters were slightly out there and hard to understand I decided on creating a more simple and easy to understand poster.
I tested out the idea of having a birds eye view plan of some corner shops however I didn't feel like I could portray this well enough with just pens and pencils. My second idea was the plan that I ran with. It showed two people standing at the service till. I really enjoyed drawing this as I put in small subliminal messages such as the 'Love?' And 'Hate?' At the top of the till. I know that these tills are not really used any more when I think of corner shops then I think of an old shop that I use to go in as a child which had these. I have tries to tie the typography in to the poster as the shop that they both work in is called 'The Corner'.
I feel that my plan for this poster went a lot better than how the final piece came out as it is too spaced out and does not have the same cosy feel to it.

Christmas work
Over Christmas I took lots of photos of the area around where I live, I wanted to capture the strange weather that was happening as well as my fimily and their reactions across the Christmas period.
For the weather I have captured both the storm as well as early morning mist. And for the photos of my family I have tried to capture them when they do not notice that I am there
Metamorphosis Day 6
Today we peer assessed each other's work; I feel that this was a great way to share skills and knowledge on using animating software and techniques.
Overall I had very positive feedback on my work; the only thing that both my peers and I thought that I could have improved on was my research. Some people feel that they were not sure about why I had used people and not bugs for my work, as that is what the story was about. The reason was that I did not feel that my audience would be able to relate to the human feelings that the characters had if they were bugs; this is why I kept them as humans.
Metamorphosis Day 5
I completed my animation and then used my spare time to annotate the animation by each changing frame. I feel that in doing this it helps to reinforce the meaning behind my animation both to myself and my viewers
I also wrote up how to do all of the effects that I used and the meaning behind each character that I used.
